Honeybush is often referred to as the other red tea.  Commonly grown in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, the tea presents a warm, fruity, sweet and refreshing infusion with hints of honey and light madagascar pepper.  The overall flavor is unique and has been compared to hot apricot jam or a dried fruit mix.

Honeybush tea is of the genius Cyclopia.  It is caffeine free and high in antioxidants contains many minerals essential to human health, including Iron, Potassium, Calcium and Manganese. These are vital in fluid balance,  bone growth and repair, and prevention of anemia.

The tea is also high in Pinitol, a modified sugar that is reportedly helpful in lowering blood sugar levels.  The health attributes of Honeybush have been known to the indigenous peoples in South Africa for centuries, and the herb has been drunk as a brewed tea for many years.
